Welcome To The Devil’s Playground (Photography Essay)

As the final year of my degree is wrapping up this week officially, I am as excited as I am afraid.  Although I do believe, there are only good things on the horizon.

This seems like an appropriate time to share the past with a throwback to some content from the first year. The backstory: The content produced was from a photographic essay for ‘Media Genres: Negotiating Textual Forms and Pleasures.’   The genres the unit explored were: Horror and Science Fiction.

The unit was great, the creative freedom given was refreshing and allowed for the ability to further explore my photography in new ways. Horror-themed photography was not something I would typically produce however it was challenging, fun and exciting all in one.  Not something you would typically get from a university assignment.  Unless you go to Deakin and study Communication (Media) because this has been the most fun and rewarding degree.

I titled the project: Welcome to the Devil’s Playground

The photos tell a story about a girl who is having a nightmare about an evil subject, who is a ‘devil’.  The photographs can do the rest of the talking.

My Life Through A Lens

This is just a quick introduction explaining the general idea of what this blog will feature. If the title doesn’t already give it away…

This will be a photographic blog, where I publish photos of places, people or objectives I’ve captured. These may come with an accompanying anecdote or two.  The blog will not be limited to that, it may feature photographs by other individuals I have travelled or explored alongside.

These photos will be a mixture of the past and the present. Join me as I explore the world through my lens. Feel free to share your experiences, memories, and photographs with me.

As mentioned above, I do not claim to be a professional photographer. All the photographs posted on this blog are original unless stated otherwise.
